In this intensive two days workshop, working from a live model with water-based clay, students will focus on the gesture rather than the detailed anatomy of the human figure, with the objective of improving their ability to depict life, movement, and emotion. Starting with short poses (20 min to one hour) on Saturday, students will have the opportunity to create several “sketches”, before working on longer poses the second day. The class will also address technical aspects of clay sculpting such as types of clay, tools, armatures, requirements for firing, and more. Demonstrations and hands-on critique will be an important part of the class.
